Statue of Liberty

With only a few days in New York, I wasn't sure whether to do the statue of liberty or not. But I'm so glad I did. The boat trip over was very cold and windy but definitely worth the amazing views and the experience of seeing the famous landmark. It was very surreal and the bluey-green colour of it really brightened up a rather cloudy day. Interestingly, the statue of liberty is made from copper and when first put up it was a redish brown but the chemical reactions between metal and water have caused it to go green over time. The torch has stayed gold because it was coated in gold leaf on the statues 100th birthday. Interesting stuff!
